Klopps road to the top.
It seems a long time ago now, since Klopp entered through the gates of Melwood. In fact coming up to fours years this very week.
Back then he would have been greeted with players that he inherited from the outgoing Brendan Rodgers.
players like Kolo Toure ,Mamadou Sakho,Lucas,Joe Allen,Kevin Stuwart,Christian Benteke, and many others.
But the point I am trying to make is he did not have a lot of world beaters. Ok, you might argue the likes of Bobby Firminio,MiIlner,Henderson, Coutinho, were all at the club.
But lets face it the team was just a top six team after Luis Suarez had left for Barcelona.
What did he do to turn it around? Lets talk about that. Straight off the bat he said he wants to play "heavy metal football".
So what is that? It is high intense, counter attacking, high pressing ,fast paced, with and without the ball.
With extreme concentration and physical demands, It is like an orchestra of him, himself the conductor, but not playing regular symphonies more like ACDC on speed.
And that set the blue print of where Klopp was heading with this Liverpool team. He embedded the never say die attitude, hard work combined with technical and tactical ability.
Deadwood! For Klopp to implement his plans into action, he had to slowly get rid of the deadwood.
Not all bad players I'm sure but they did not suit the blue print, "heavy metal football" Benteke 32 m Skrtle 5.5 m Alberto 6 m Ballotelli Free Ibe 5 m. All gone the first season in charge.
Followed by Lucas 5 m Wisdom 5 m Sackho 26 m and Stewart 8 m the following season.
And there were others in between fringe players and so on. All sold for good money in my opinion.
So now the deadwood is gone the team is improving by week, new players are coming in Mane 30 m Matip free Klavan 4.2 m Wijnaldum 25 m all in the summer of 2016.
Liverpool secured a Champions league spot finishing 4th 16 points better off than the previous season and reaching the Europa league final.
losing 3-1 to Sevilla in Klopps first full season in charge with a full pre-season under his belt.
Now we can start to see the improvement. 2017 brought the arrivals of Salah 39 m Robertson 10 m Solanke 4 m Oxlade-Chamberlain 35 m,and Virgil 70 m in the winter window looking back now you would say "wow" nice business.
That year saw more improvement with these lads reaching the Champions league Final, in there first season with the club losing out to Real Madrid 3-1.
With 2 mistakes coming from Karius in the Liverpool goals, and Salah being sidelined after clearly being pulled to ground by the hand awkwardly by Ramos.
Now you can see the blue print of Klopps plans in full flight. It is starting to come together, all the stuff he had said in the past is now becoming fact.
He wants the players to write their own history at a club that has a long list of successes in the past.
The fans are starting to believe again they have faith in the team and the manager and fans are fully on board this crazy train of football.
Keita, Allison, Fabinho, Shaqiri, the latest editions. Now the team has strength and depth, a forward trio that would on there day, be unrivalled with there pace, pressing, skill ,hard work and finishing ability.
With possible the best defender in the world at the heart of their defence in Virgil, the team Klopp built is destined for success.
After the previous years heartbreak they went one better the following year beating Spurs in the final to claim the sixth Champions league for the club and also pushing Man City in the league reaching a record maximum of points 97 of any Liverpool team in top flight Football.
So Klopps rise to the top has not been easy.
But from the very first day he arrived at the club he has had a plan, and never for a minute changed the way he wanted to play the game "heavy metal football"
From the very first day he laid down the blue print to success.
He has made very clever moves in the transfer market buying players really with only potential and turned them into superstars.
He had a vision to make history and that is what he has done.
